United Kingdom of Uniqueness.

When we talk about the United Kingdom, we are talking about something really unique. A country where the people speak uniquely with their renowned and original British accent, a country where the hypnotizing football fever that amazes the world came from, a country where different, yet elegant music invented, and, well, everything.

And now I get questioned : Why do I want to study in the United Kingdom?

And well, I have 3 reasons on that : my personal fondness of the culture, the great people, and the education of the UK. Let’s talk about it a little bit.

I always love UK culture, but let’s start cheesy. One of the the UK culture elements that I like is their accent, I think it’s some kind of aristocratic and exclusive accent. I can’t really comprehend it to be honest. It’s like when they are talking to you they are radiating you with aura of inexplicable elegance. I love it when they are kind of saying words in a slightly − or significantly − different way from the American accent. Classic.

The other things that I like is the culture of football there. And this culture is not just a culture. It stays deep down on every British people’s heart. I love how they love football, their dedication to football, as we can see at their indomitable national football team or clubs, or hooligans for the bad example.

Now let’s talk about the people there. As we all know, best people come from there. Best people from arts, science, technology, to business.

Let’s take the arts thing. Who doesn’t know the Beatles? The legendary group of people, who was able to compile combinations of musical notes that put the world into literal astonishment, and sustained the magic even after they are physically gone from the world? They are plain juggernauts. Queen? No less. And they all came from the United Kingdom.

From the science cosmos of United Kingdom there is Sir Frank Whittle. Without him, maybe we are still flying around the world with planes with tiny propellers, with much longer, boring travel. Yes, he is the inventor of the jet engine. With the super efficient jet engine he made, now we can travel around the world, literally, in the matter of hours. Sir James Watt, an inventor with a lot of inventions, with the steam engine as the most known one, brilliant. They all came from the United Kingdom.

Technology world, nowadays has to thank a magnificent man named Sir Tim Berners-Lee, with his brainchild, the Internet. We can never imagine how would we live today without the ability of the Internet to connect everyone in the world. Imagine life without e-mail, Facebook, or Skype. Thanks Sir Tim. Another British brilliance.

And here comes the man that I like very much, Richard Branson, the founder of the Virgin Group. The 1.6 billion-worth self-made billionaire, who has really distinctive ways of doing business, such as dressing as a woman flight attendant at the Virgin Atlantic inauguration, or roaming around the New York City with a military tank at the Virgin Cola launching, really blows my mind. That kind of uniqueness, along with the effectiveness of doing business, will never found in somewhere else. And I think you can guess where does he come from.

And all those remarkable people, and other unmentioned great people, won’t exist without the most important part of a civilization, education. And as we all know, education in the United Kingdom, without the doubt, is among the best in the world. Cambridge University, Oxford University, and University of College London, all are the top 10 universities in the world. They, along with other educational institutions around UK, endure on fostering young, driven, and bright people, who will continue, with passion, making the world a better place.

And I think, personally, with all these exclusive, unique, and brilliant entities the UK preserves, having an education there, is a pleasure to.
